You are invited to the opening reception of our upcoming exhibition with internationally acclaimed artists Christopher Makos and Paul Solberg on Saturday, September 14, from 6:30 - 10 pm. The reception will begin with a talk by Ukrainian arts advocate Luba Michailova with the artists in attendance. We will also be screening a teaser of Lis Gerstner's upcoming film, Earl Biss: The Spirit Who Walks Among His People, at 9:30.

3205 Longhorn Rd | Boulder, CO | 80302
About the show:

With the emergence of the new world order and the shifting of both political and social norms, one thing that still remains a constant is a person's need for love. Whomever, wherever one is, the need for home, friendship, and love remains a constant in a world full of turmoil and misunderstanding. Christopher Makos and Paul Solberg will be showing photographs from recents trips to Russia, which show the normalcy between cultures regardless of political persuasions.

Pictures from Russia, No Collusion will be on view by appointment
September 14 - November 17.
Also on view: works by Jason Appleton, Earl Biss, Keith Haring, Kristen Hatgi Sink, Julie Maren, Julian Schnabel, and Terry Seidel.

About the artists:
Christopher Makos was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, grew up in California, and moved to New York after high school. He studied architecture in Paris and briefly worked as an apprentice to the photographer Man Ray. Makos also collaborated on artistic projects with close friend Andy Warhol, who referred to him as "the most modern photographer in America." His photographs have been exhibited in galleries and museums such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, the Tate Modern in London, the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, the IVAM in Valencia (Spain) and the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid. His pictures have appeared in magazines and newspapers, including Paris Match and Wall Street Journal. He is also the author of several books, including the volumes Warhol/Makos In Context (2007), Andy Warhol China 1982 (2007) and Christopher Makos Polaroids (2009).

Paul Solberg (b. 1969) was born in Minnesota and currently lives in New York. Originally known for his exquisite still life portraits, the same sensitivity is seen in Solberg’s human subjects, photographing today’s legendary artist Ai Wei Wei, and a series of haunting portraits in Service (2010). His photographs reside in such collections as the Elton John Photography Collection, described by Sir Elton John as “images [that] evoke bygone eras while remaining fresh and immediate.” Solberg has exhibited his work internationally in museums and galleries including La Casa Encendida (Madrid), Subte (Montevideo), Galerie Catherine Houard (Paris), Galerie Sho Contemporary Art (Tokyo), Galerie Hiltawsky (Berlin), Christopher Henry Gallery (New York), and Karl Hutter Fine Art (LA). His work has also been featured in publications such as Wall Street Journal International, CNN Travel, Interview Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler, and New York Daily News.
Luba Michailova (Ukraine) is the founder of IZOLYATSIA, a non-profit, multidisciplinary platform for contemporary culture in Ukraine. The foundation's mission is to inspire positive change by using culture as an instrument in art, research, and projects geared at activating Ukraine's creative sector. Her collection featured site-specific commissions produced through IZOLYATSIA.
A significant part of the collection was lost during the military seizure of IZOLYATSIA's premises in Donetsk by the pro-Russian separatists in June 2014. Luba Michailova is a member of the Tate Russia and Eastern Europe Acquisitions Committee and member of the Expert Council for Contemporary Art at the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
