T. John Hughes Commercial + Fine Art Architectural Photographer
T.John Hughes has 30 years of experience as a commercial and fine art architectural photographer and was a faculty member of the Art Institute of Colorado, where he also specialized in photo history. In recent years, he has focused on fine art projects related to architecture; change over time; cinema; and abstraction. One of his best-known endeavors is the "Cityscape" Panorama Project." Begun in 1992 it is an ongoing every-five-year documentation of downtown Denver cityscapes and streetscapes taken from the same vantage points. And in 2015 his nationally-focused book, Apparitions: Architecture That has Disappeared From Our Cities, was published. He also taught at the University of Colorado Graduate School of Architecture. He has a B.A. in English from Trinity College and an M.A. in Digital Photography from Savannah College of Art and Design.
Rick’s broad body of work engages and enriches communities from Denver to Antarctica. His design focus ranges from mixed-use to higher education to cultural centers. Rick’s current work is relevant to many issues that are pivotal, including transit-oriented development, urban infill and affordable housing. An active student mentor, teacher and juror, Rick invests in the next generation of designers. To serve the larger community, he is a member of several design review boards and is a long-term leader of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from Harvard University and a B.A. in Environmental Design from the University of California at Berkeley. |
