~Tuesday, March 5th:  TIE (The International Experimental Cinema
Exposition) Tribute to Ektachrome and Kodachrome Reversal.

In response to Kodak's recent discontinuation of their Ektachrome 100d
stock (the last available color reversal stock to be mass-produced in the
country), curator Francis Symonds put together a program of films shot
exclusively on color reversal film.  In an age where many movies are shot
digitally, and those that aren't are projected digitally, these types of
works stand out more strongly than ever as purely filmic and cinematic
experiences. The films in this program will cover a variety of forms:
silent lyrics, structural light and color studies, experimental essays,
personal home movies, and sensuous nature documentaries. All work will be
shown in its original format (16mm and super-8), and the program will
feature works by such noted filmmakers as Saul Levine, Jennifer
Montgomery, Gordon Nelson, and Tara Merenda Nelson.

This event will be held at the Dikeou Collection in the Colorado Building.
1615 California Street, 5th Floor, Denver, CO 80202

Doors open at 7:00 pm, screenings begin promptly at 7:30 and will run
until about 9:30.

Screening will be followed by a brief Q&A session with Curator and TIE
Creative Director. The program will end at 10:00 pm. This event is free to
attend and open to the public. Light Refreshments will be provided.

~Thursday, March 14:  Opening Reception for Sebastiaan Bremer at the
Dikeou Collection Pop-Up Space.

The Dikeou Collection is pleased to announce the acquisition of new works
by Dutch photographer Sebastiaan Bremer from his series, SCHOENER
GOETTERFUNKEN.  Bremer currently lives and works in New York City, and the
prints from this series were made with color reversal Kodak Safety film.
In this series, Bremer works primarily with snapshots taken from his own
family vacations, where he paints or draws upon the images, enlarges them,
and then re-photographs them.  This creates works that exist in between
the worlds of painting and photography, where, as Bremer says, “you see
how it’s made but the magic still works.”

touches of paint and ink to create fun, imaginative images.  We will
provide participants with the materials needed to create their own
impressions upon a variety of antique photographs.
