CORE New Art Space calling for work

INTERNATIONAL CALL FOR ENTRIES
"Time Capsule"
A Photography Show
Submissions Deadline:  Midnight (MST) on Sunday, February 3, 2013
Show Dates:  March 7 – 24, 2013

CORE New Art Space is pleased to announce an international call for entries for “Time Capsule,” which will take place during the 2013 biennial Month of Photography (MOP).

CORE is calling for jpg images of photographs which communicate what is modern and current in our lives:  the “here and now” in the world that surrounds us.  Things change so quickly in our modern lives that a month, a week, or even a day can hold revelations.  Thinking in time capsule terms helps us communicate something about today, examine where we are in relation to the past, and imagine where we may be heading in the future.  This allows us to examine and appreciate every-day experiences, and may create treasures for tomorrow.  It helps us question why things are important and why the future may be different because of what is happening now.

Photographic artists are invited to submit images of people, places, things and events in their immediate surroundings, and/or images that reflect universal themes in our modern culture.  Photographers are also asked to consider how current technology influences their work and techniques and how photography has revolutionized the way we experience life in an ever-changing, image conscious, gadget-laced social media environment.  So, use the art of photography to show us what is relevant and inspirational to you now.

Juror:  Hamidah Glasgow is the Executive Director and Chief Curator at The Center for Fine Art Photography. The Center hosts 17 exhibitions annually consisting of juried, curated and solo exhibitions. The Center features emerging and established artists from around the world and promotes individual artists' work through physical and online galleries, publications and various social media outlets including the Center’s blog. Hamidah has had diverse careers as a Hollywood producer, and nonprofit arts executive. She has been a reviewer for Critical Mass, ReviewLA, SPE, FotoFest and other photographic organizations.

Eligibility: The exhibition is open to all professional and amateur photographers, working with digital, traditional, alternative and experimental photographic techniques.
