The Colorado Photographic Arts Center (CPAC) stands in solidarity with the protests occurring in our community, the nation, and around the world. We are saddened and angered by the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, and too many other lives lost to racist violence.

Our mission is to foster the understanding and appreciation of photography through exhibitions, education, and community outreach. We are committed to equality and to continuing our work to amplify the voices of underrepresented artists, including black Americans.

At this moment, photographer and CPAC member Alex Yvens Saintil is on the front lines of the protests here in Denver. He has generously shared some images from his ongoing series, Unrest in Denver. You can see more of his work on Instagram (@alex_shootz) and his website (alexshootz.com/unrestindenver).

2020 Summer Workshops for Teens

June - July

This summer CPAC is offering three workshops designed exclusively for teens interested in learning how to strengthen their camera skills. Led by qualified instructors, classes provide a solid foundation in digital photography, with courses in technical altering, portraiture, book creations, and more.

Please note: In response to COVID-19 we've reduced class sizes to 8 students to maintain safe distancing practices. We hope to hold workshops in person, but if needed may transition online or cancel it as it gets closer to the event.

Distanced Perspective

Online Photography Exhibition

CPAC congratulates all the photographers selected for Distanced Perspective. As curator Samantha Johnston, Executive Director of CPAC, viewed each image, she thought a lot about the power of art and how it can bring people together during these unprecedented times.

"This pandemic has affected all of us in profound ways. All over the world, people are experiencing challenges and hardships, as well as moments of kindness and beauty. Distanced Perspective is another way we can share these moments and move forward together as a community."
