Grand Opening of Seidel City: A Multi-Media Celebration of Colorado Art and Community

DECEMBER 2 @ 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM

As HOVAB considers the past, we are also intensely interested in the future — fresh, invigorating!  And at last there’s a new “seasoned” kid in town. Its name is Seidel City.
Terry Seidel, creator and proprietor of Seidel City ─ a contemporary art gallery and series of outbuildings just outside Boulder city limits ─ thoughtfully designed his studio and surrounding work/play spaces to be interactive, inclusive, and cool.
On December 2, Seidel City officially opens its doors with a grassroots event akin to “where the rubber meets the road” ─ shining the spotlight on the artists and the art itself versus the institution where it’s housed. This, too, is HOVAB’s mission, and in Boulder, this has become essential.
Seidel’s vision is to give participants a multi-media experience that’s a little “rougher around the edges,” yet possessing a soft heart ─ reminiscent of Boulder County’s creative community in the early 1980’s. Seidel is the host of HOVAB@ Mr. Pool Gallery: Objects and Abstractions and we are proud to be associated with him and this exciting new venture!
Seidel likens his approach to the new space as “Guerilla Arts,” where word of mouth is where it’s mostly at.
