Deadline: July 31, 2016 Artists and photographers are encouraged to share their artistic vision of mental health in any medium. Artwork can range from realism to surrealism to abstraction, and may be 2D or 3D. Work can be based on experience with mental health, stigmas associated with mental health, and coping with mental health through art expression.

2016 American Art Today: What is American Art?

The 16th Annual Juried Exhibition, American Art Today, is a prestigious exhibition that features 2D and 3D works of approximately 30 artists from across the nation. This year’s subject, “What is American Art?” will be answered by the juror Dr. William U. Eiland, Director of the Georgia Museum of Art, through the selected works. During his career, he has received several fellowships and distinguished service awards.

National Parks - Personal Narratives: Centennial Celebration Exhibition

The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin, will host a juried art show entitled “National Parks – Personal Narratives” as the opening event in its newly refurbished galleries. Alienation...The state or experience of being isolated from a group or an activity to which one should belong or in which one should be involved...isolation, detachment, estrangement, distance, separation, division, cutting off, turning away, loss or lack of sympathy, indifference or hostility. The concept of alienation is embedded in all of the great religions as well as social and political theories of the civilized period. The hope is that in the future alienation will be overcome so that humanity can achieve harmony with itself and nature.

Alternative processes include, but are not limited to: Albumen, Cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, Platinum/Palladium, Gum Bichromate, Bromoil, Salt Print, Tintype, Ziatype, Daguerreotype, Image Transfers, Liquid Emulsion, Photogravure as well as handmade prints created from digital negatives.
